Regular Tour of Colossal Cave

The tour route is a half mile long and takes about 45-50 minutes to complete. As your guide relates the Cave’s history, legends, and geology, you walk down and back up about
six and a half stories (363 stair steps) and see beautiful cave formations like stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, boxwork, and helictites.

Tours are given daily, on the hour, year-round. You need no special clothing in the Cave, which is always 70 degrees and dry and you are welcome to take pictures inside.

Daytime Ladder Tour

Visit mysterious, off-route areas of Colossal Cave that few others have seen! For those 12 years and older, the Daytime Ladder Tour enables you to explore a beautiful, partially-developed section of the Cave that has been rarely seen by the public since the 1950’s. So, strap on your helmet and headlamp, grab your full-fingered gloves and get ready to explore!
On your 1.5 hour tour, you will:
– Climb up ladders
– Sidle through narrow passages
– Scramble across bridges
– Learn about cave formations

And, if you’re lucky, you’ll meet a bat or spider while viewing the natural cave fauna.
Your small guided tour will visit an exquisitely beautiful, only partially improved area of Colossal Cave just outside of Tucson. Participants will be provided hard hats and lights and must be ready to climb and clamber. Note that full-fingered gloves are required but not provided; we have gloves for purchase or you may bring your own. This tour requires participants to be physically fit, agile, able to scale obstacles and negotiate tight squeezes.

Don’t miss out on this unique Colossal Cave adventure in the beautiful Sonoran Desert!
