Classic Cave Tour

This half-mile long guided walk takes about 40 minutes to complete. It’s the perfect family-friendly introduction to the Cave. You’ll learn about the Cave’s history, its legends (like train robbers and ghosts), and its unique geology. As you descend approximately six stories deep (363 stair steps) you’ll see some amazing cave formations including stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, box work, and helictites that were sculpted by millions of years of geological activity. And keep an eye out for the wildlife too!

Tours are given daily on the hour, year-round. No special gear is needed on this tour, just comfortable walking shoes. This is our most popular tour and space is limited so make your reservation early to ensure your place.

*White-nose syndrome is a fungal disease that kills almost 100% of bats at sites where it occurs. It doesn’t affect humans as far as we know, but we can unfortunately spread the disease. We are asking every tour participant to spray their shoes with rubbing alcohol. Furthermore, if you know you are wearing clothes that have been in another cave or mine since 2006, we are happy to give you a tour voucher for a different day or time so you can change clothes. We have lots of bats here, and we want to protect them from this deadly disease.*

Ladder Tour

Ready to climb ladders, squeeze through narrow passages, and clamber across rock bridges? The Ladder Tour takes you exploring through crazy, seldom seen sections of the Cave that have been limited to the public since the 1950s. This 1.5-hour tour gives you a unique perspective on this mysterious cave system while teaching you about some of the more unusual geological features. And, if you’re lucky, you’ll meet a bat or spider along the way.

This tour is restricted to those 12 and older. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants will be provided with hard hats, lights and full-fingered gloves. Please note that this tour requires participants to be physically fit, able to scale obstacles and negotiate tight squeezes. You’re going to love this one!
